You MUST HAVE a KING JAMES BIBLE because it is the ONLY one to work with the incomparable STRONG'S CONCORDANCE. Choose your Bible with these considerations: Own a Bible with a durable cover and binding that will last for generations. IT must have stitched binding. It must be easily spread to every page and lie flat on the desk without closing itself. You DO NOT want your Bible to fall apart at the seams after you put insightful notes on all the pages. Leather could be the best material. Get a type size that is large enough to read without eye strain. Cross references are very helpful. Own a Bible that is printed on HEMP PAPER, which is superior because it lasts forever, does not turn yellow, does not crumble, does not weigh a lot and does not keep creases.
VERY IMPORTANT! The KJV reveals hidden meaning that is lost in EVERY OTHER translation of the Bible. |

When you read the Bible, you have to know where you are in the panoramic span of history and to know where you are on a map. For example, books by prophets are NOT IN chronological order in the Bible. This can cause great confusion for you. What is also confusing is for cities and locations to be mentioned in the Bible when you do not have a map to see where they were. You need a map in order to get a good grasp of situations like battles and travels by the prophets.
The Bible Timeline is in full color throughout, has put events and personages in order by date on a timeline. There are maps that show places and cities at particular times in history. What's more, events and personages in other cultures are part of this timeline. This helps you to understand what level Israelite Society was compared to other societies in the world- like the Persian, Babylonian, Egyptian, Assyrian, Greek and Chinese.

| Get a REAL DICTIONARY! You need to know EVERYTHING about a word that there is to know. You want to know the language that the word came from and what the earliest meaning was. You are not interested in today's shallow meanings that are usually unsubstantiated and disconnected from the past.
Webster's New Twentieth Century Dictionary, Unabridged Second edition. 11x8.5x5" You will need to put this huge book at a dedicated location- that is convenient. It should not be lifted and moved about because of its substantial size and weight. | |
|
|
| You need to have a dedicated location for thick books because they could be damaged when moved.
You might want a small table especially for your Dictionary. You might want a portable and tilted stand that sits on a larger table.
Personally, I like to have my Dictionary on the table where I work so that I do not need to get up and walk to the Dictionary. When a researcher is taken away from his immediate place, his train of thought can be interrupted. Plus, he would need to carry papers and pens with him in order to take notes.
You need to decide which setup best suits you. My recommendation, based on my experience, is to have the Dictionary on the desk that I am working at.

| The Book of Life by V. Gilbert. Manufactured about 1978. An encyclopedia set (of 24 books) of Biblical information. This is a fascinating set of books to read to the children. It has been an excellent research tool for me through the years. It is fully illustrated and filled with insightful information and details of daily life for people in Biblical times. This set is a chronological travel through the Bible.
• I have used Book 4 over and over in order to understand details of the construction of and materials used in the Tabernacle (Tent) of God. A miniature replica of the Tent and all the accessories and Priestly attire are shown in colored photos. These books have held up very well over decades of time.
• I cannot imagine how I would have gotten along without this encyclopedia set.

| FUNK & WAGNALL or COLLIERS ENCYCLOPEDIA Sets.
• Bible history, like the Book of Daniel, was written centuries and millennia before it happened. The Book of Daniel parallels accounts in Funk & Wagnalls and Colliers.
• God had the Bible written for the common man and standard encyclopedias complement this writing style. Expensive encyclopedias have not worked for me. American Encyclopedias are the ONLY ONES to complement Bible history.
• My other observation is that Bible prophecy was written from the viewpoint of 1991 AD. So, you need an encyclopedia set dated BEFORE but near 1991. My set dates to 1983-84.
