Opening from part one of this newsletter: It is ironic but millions of Christians go to Church every week and yet they do not have a close personal relationship with God. These Christians do not really talk to God except for short mundane prayers. And they have never even imagined that they could actually listen to God.

Friends, this is a dangerous spiritual state to be in that could cost you your physical and eternal life. Do you recall that God once said to a pretend Christian, "Get away from Me because I never knew you!" Well think about it. If a stranger came up to you and said that he was your best friend, you would respond with those same words.

If you want eternal life, you had better become God’s intimate friend real fast! That means that you had better start talking to and listening to God. Church going will never get anybody into Heaven; neither will Bible reading all by itself. Your allegiance to a leader won’t get you anywhere.

Some religious leaders want you to develop a close personal relationship with them and their particular Churches. In contrast, God wants you to develop a close relationship with Him first and foremost. Some religious leaders can even become barriers between you and God.

If you develop a close relationship with God, self-serving religious leaders will not be able to take advantage of you and exploit you. In fact, you will be a very good influence on people in your Church because you will influence them to follow a righteous course, create good policies and make wise decisions.

Prayer is one way to communicate with God. That is talking to God. The other way to communicate with God is to listen to Him. Meditation is a Biblical and proven way to listen to God. God chose David to be King of Israel because David meditated. As a result of meditation, David was "a man after God’s own heart."

When you meditate, you will be as close to God as David was. And, you could receive a great calling like David did because you will be an intimate friend of God. Meditation is easy and simple and can be an effortless natural habit during every second of your day and life.

How Do You Meditate?

Meditation has been presented as a highly formalized ritual that bears little resemblance to reality. You have seen women sitting in the Lotus position with eyes closed and palms gently touching. I have to chuckle to myself because it reminds me of workouts at the gym when I was young. Men were there to strenuously work out. They wore old sweat clothes that were soaked with perspiration. In contrast, a few ladies came to "work out" in designer "gym clothes" in shades of pink. And they never worked up a sweat or made any groaning noises from lifting heavy weights. No, they were there for show and possibly to find a man. And, they usually looked like they needed some exercise because they had no muscle tone. In a word, they were pretentious.

The same pretensions apply to meditation. The average person will look at the highly formalized version of meditation and immediately say to himself that he has no time for such formal rituals. This is how Satan works. The most important thing you can do to have a personal relationship with God is to meditate. But, Satan has created a popular version of meditation that excludes the average person. In this way, Satan could have cut YOU off from God‘s personal friendship.

Meditate on the fly

Real meditation is a continuous process that you do "on the fly." You meditate while you are working, shopping and relaxing with your family. You do not ever get out of the meditation mode. Like prayer, it is a state that you are always in. This state is achieved after you develop habits that are natural and require no effort on your part. Prayer and mediation are free gifts from God. You do not pay for them or work for them. Of course, you need to initially develop lifetime habits. But, that is not really work.

Meditation is like learning the alphabet by rote. You start out with formal techniques. Over time, you will have developed meditation to the point you are constantly in a meditation state as you go about the hustle and bustle of your life. You no longer need exercises unless you want to refresh your technique.

Wow! Think about how powerful you would be if you were constantly talking to and listening to God the person? This, my dear friend, is exactly what God wants. He wants to have an intimate personal relationship with you. He wants to be your nearest and dearest friend from cradle to grave.

Your disciplined mind

The beginning of your meditation experience is the separation of your mind from the chaos of life. People are generally not disciplined enough to control their minds, especially in the chaos of daily life. Their minds go all over the place like undisciplined children racing around a room and screaming.

You have to get control of your emotions and mind. So, initially, you need some formal techniques. Here is a technique that worked for me. Get away to yourself in a quiet and uninterrupted place and become conscious of your mind. You will become aware that here is a flood of things coming into your mind. Think of yourself as a floodgate keeper. You will proceed to control the flood of images and thoughts that constantly pass through your mind. Initially, you cannot control the flood of things in your mind.

Keep your thoughts flowing out

But, you can definitely keep thoughts and images flowing through and out. The exercise is to keep thoughts flowing through. In normal life, you often need to dwell on thoughts and images. But, when exercising, you pass them along. Think of a clogged artery in your brain. Cholesterol could build up, clog your artery and cause a stroke. Evil thoughts are like this. They can build up and cause you to do self-destructive things or have a literal stroke because of your anger. So, you need to keep the blood flowing freely through your brain. And you need to keep your thoughts flowing freely through your mind so evil thoughts do not back up and monopolize your brainpower. Don’t get constipated. Pass those evil thoughts or you will get deathly ill.

Natural and effortless

Meditation could be the hardest habit you will ever develop. But, it can become the easiest thing you ever do. And it could be the most beneficial thing you will ever do. After it becomes a lifetime habit, it will be natural and effortless.

Until you have made meditation a constant state of consciousness, you need to train yourself for awhile in order to develop mental self-discipline. You need to control your mind and emotions to a reasonable degree instead of being controlled by them to the point you do crazy things.

You are only a few steps from God in the Holy-Holy Room

1.) Find a quiet time and place every day where you can create silence. Think of the Holy-Holy Room where God dwells. No sound was allowed. The High Priest was allowed to enter that room but once a year and he had to wear tiny bells. Noise from those bells prevented God from killing the High Priest. So, you can see that silence is very important to God. And, it ought to be important to you. Silence is important to God because it is an important way for a person to communicate with God. Of course, you can train yourself over the years to be in silence while you are in a chaotic and noisy world.

2.) Close your eyes and immediately open the floodgate of your mind so that ALL thoughts flow through without clogging up. If a thought clogs up, force it to pass through and out. Do this exercise for a while each day. Try this as a regular exercise for weeks, months and years if necessary. Refresh this exercise if necessary. Initially, this could be the hardest thing you have ever done. But continue this until you develop the self-discipline to do this naturally when you are outside your of your Holy-Holy place. Some people have a prayer closet. It is their physical Holy-Holy room. Some people are formal and they need physical objects and places.

3.) But, I want you to eventually remain in your Holy-Holy room as you go about your daily routine in the noisy and chaotic world. Your Holy-Holy room is a spiritual place and you take it with you everywhere you go. YOU are the Temple of God. Have you ever wondered how Jesus was so brilliant to give excellent comments back to the Scribes and Pharisees when they were viciously attacking Him? Normally, we can only come up with good comebacks AFTER debates are over. But, Jesus was in total mental and emotional control WHILE He was viciously attacked.

That was because Jesus was completely relaxed. His mind was running at peak performance. His blood was freely flowing through His brain. He was like a prizefighter that keenly observed every move of his opponent and instantly calculated perfect responses. Have you ever watched a lion take down his prey? The lion has perfect peace on mind. He does not use one muscle unnecessarily. His entire body and mind are part of a perfect use of thought and muscle. Jesus, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, was the perfection of mind and body coordination. His emotions were not clogging up His brain and undermining His performance. YOU need that kind of peace of mind and brilliance when you are in the heat of battle against Satan’s children. Meditation is the process that could move YOU into that perfect state of peace. Like Jesus said, "My peace I give to you."

Your body is God’s Temple. Your head can be God’s Holy-Holy room where you meet with God and communicate intimately about your life- and His life.

4.) These formal exercises will eventually be unnecessary depending on your particular genetic design. Personally, I still crave time in my physical Holy-Holy Room. Do you remember that Jesus sought time to be by Himself so that He could pray? So, it could be that we never outgrow our need to have a formal Holy-Holy place to escape to.

5.) After you master the ability to continually pray and meditate, you will have powerful self-discipline and self-control. Satan will not be able to throw your mind into confusion and get you to make rash and stupid decisions because of your emotions. Like David said, you will stand on your high tower and laugh at your enemies. You will be secure in your Holy-Holy room and you will laugh at the demons that fail to bring you down through stupid mistakes.

Stay out of Loops

6.) The creation of personal computers was a boon for people that want to understand the human mind. Our minds do complex computations like computers do. And they don’t need our interference while they work. Sometimes we can ask our minds to provide an answer to a question at night. In the morning, the answer will come to us without any effort.

Our minds are brilliant beyond our understanding. When we allow God’s Holy Spirit to work in combination with our minds, without our interference, we can have brilliant insights come to us from out of the blue.

In order to help our minds, we need to treat them like computers in some respects. We do not overwhelm our computers with several functions at one time. If we overburden our computers they will malfunction. One way a computer malfunctions is to get into a loop. The computer seems to be working because the hourglass is spinning. But, it is actually sending electronic impulses over and over in a circle that produces no results.

Our minds can get into loops. This is when we have obsessive thoughts that take up time and keep us in a bad mindset and a bad mood. For example, we could have angry thoughts as we endlessly relive an injustice from the past. So, we need to be like the floodgate keeper and push those clogged thoughts through the gate and out of our minds.

During our meditation exercises, we develop mental and emotional self-discipline by continually pushing thoughts and emotions through. In everyday life, there are times we need to ponder and dwell on thoughts and information. We sometimes need to consider where negative emotions come from. But, during your meditation exercises, you need to keep thoughts flowing, keep blood flowing and keep your computer from looping. From these exercises you will develop the mental discipline to pass bad thoughts through your mind while you are living your normal life in a chaotic and noisy world.

Immediate results

7.) Almost immediately, God will reward your efforts with brilliant insights into any subject that you wish to focus on. These results are free gifts from God that seem to come out of nowhere. These are the good fruits that prove that you are doing a righteous thing by meditating.
